Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Kringle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kringle comes to the cage accompanied by Wating on the world to change, by John Mayer. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pedro Rua!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kringle tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rua paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Chris Kringle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rua blocks a head kick by Kringle.
Kringle misses with a wild combination.
Rua moves out of range of the body kick.
Kringle misses with a lunging right hand

and Rua counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kringle is looking to escape.
Rua wants to stand but Kringle has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Pedro Rua hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Kringle cracks Rua with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

and Rua decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kringle's guard.
Kringle is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rua is controlling him.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Rua is standing up over Kringle. Kringle looks to escape but Rua dives into side control.

and Rua counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Kringle is looking to stand up but Rua isn't so interested in that idea.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Chris Kringle has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Kringle tries to clinch there but Rua circles away.

Kringle tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rua manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kringle misses with a head kick.
Kringle lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rua backs up against the cage.
Kringle throws a sloppy head kick and Rua moves out of range easily.
Kringle will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Rua moves out of range of the body kick.

Kringle forces Rua back against the cage and clinches.

Kringle looking to throw knees to the head but Rua is blocking nicely.
Kringle misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Rua.
Kringle pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Kringle throws an elbow but it misses.
Rua is looking for a takedown.
Rua is looking to take this one to the mat.
Rua managing to block the knees to the body from Kringle.
Rua blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Kringle looking to throw knees to the head but Rua is blocking nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kringle throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Rua blocks it with crossed arms.
Kringle putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Rua in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kringle is pressed up against the cage. Rua has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kringle down to the mat. Kringle avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Kringle's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Rua takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Kringle misses with a head kick.
Kringle throws a leg kick but Rua checks it.
Rua dodges the punch combination from Kringle.
Kringle throws a sloppy head kick

and Rua counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Kringle looks like he's trying to stand up.
Kringle tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Rua manages to move to mount!

You get the feeling that Kringle really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Rua is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Kringle misses with a hook to the body

and Rua counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kringle is wriggling around but Rua manages to pass to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kringle is looking to escape.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rua wants to get back to his feet.
Kringle tries to kick Rua off but Rua keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Chris Kringle wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Kringle pushes Rua off looking to stand but Rua dives back in and keeps control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

so Rua counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Rua gets to his feet - Kringle follows without any prompting.

Kringle moves in looking to clinch but Rua pushes him off.

Kringle closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rua to the mat! Rua manages to get full guard.

Kringle throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rua works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kringle throws an elbow that misses. Rua uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kringle's guard. Nice move by Rua!

Kringle is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Rua asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Kringle is looking to get back to his feet here but Rua is keeping cool and he's managed to take Kringle's back.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Kringle tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rua swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kringle tries to bum rush Rua with a series of wild strikes but Rua uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Kringle throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rua slips a jab from Kringle.
Kringle fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Rua is out of range.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kringle shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rua but Rua pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A slow jab from Kringle misses its intended target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Kringle's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kringle is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Rua is controlling him well.
Pedro Rua has got the better of the ground game so far.

Kringle explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Kringle ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rua moves away.
Kringle throws a series of punches but Rua avoids them all with ease.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kringle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rua tries to avoid it but Kringle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rua to the ground. Rua escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Rua counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Rua gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Pedro Rua comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rua has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
