Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between James Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bradford Whitley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Black!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bradford Whitley!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitley throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Black changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Whitley tries to avoid it but Black manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Whitley to the ground. Whitley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Black takes a swing at Whitley's ribcage but misses.

Black fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Whitley, pushing him back against the cage.
Black keeps control of Whitley as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Whitley crunches a lovely knee into Black's ribcage.
Whitley is leaning against Black and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Black really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Black jumps guard and drags Whitley to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Black seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Black had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Whitley defends it easily.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Bradford Whitley wasn't active enough on the ground.

Black shoots in for a double leg but Whitley sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
James Black seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Whitley thumps Black with a low kick.

Black throws a shot from downtown. Whitley moves away and avoids it.
Whitley swings away with a leg kick that misses.

and Whitley counters with a head kick.
Whitley digs a good hook to Black's body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A looping hook to the body misses from Black. Whitley does a little dance to reset his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Whitley shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Black eats them both and turns towards Whitley to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Black stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Whitley.
Whitley fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Black manages to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Bradford Whitley will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Whitley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Black swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Whitley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Black has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Whitley has managed to get both his arms back between Black's legs - danger averted.
