Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ares Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Carl Johnson enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ares Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez misses with a takedown attempt - Johnson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Johnson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sanchez to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Sanchez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johnson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ares Sanchez has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Johnson is not content to let Sanchez control the position.

What can Sanchez do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Johnson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Sanchez closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Sanchez pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Sanchez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Johnson as he avoids it easily.
Horrible takedown by Sanchez or perhaps it was just good defense by Johnson which made him look bad.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Johnson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sanchez is working away from the top position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Johnson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sanchez pulls his head out easily.
Johnson is staying active underneath Sanchez, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Johnson is squirming around, avoiding Sanchez's attempts to control the action.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Sanchez goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Johnson turns into him and now he's in Sanchez's guard.
Sanchez pulls Johnson in close to his closed guard and prevents Johnson from doing any damage or advancing position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ares Sanchez wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Sanchez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Johnson sprawls well. Johnson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sanchez gets slowly back to his feet.

Sanchez with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sanchez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Sanchez is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Johnson pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Johnson is pressed up against the cage. Sanchez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Johnson down to the mat. Johnson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Johnson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sanchez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Sanchez is taking a breather. Johnson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Sanchez is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Sanchez has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ares Sanchez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sanchez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
