Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deftone tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dexter paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Dexter throws a head kick but Deftone moves out of range.
Deftone on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Deftone blocks a head kick by Dexter.
Deftone throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Dexter counters with a nice low kick that buckles Deftone's knee momentarily.
Deftone swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Dexter counters with a nice leg kick.
Deftone connects with the punch.
Deftone gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Dexter.

It looks like Deadguy Deftone has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Dexter drives through with a takedown into Deftone's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Dexter wants to lay and pray for a moment but Deftone keeps working.

Dexter seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Deftone is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
