PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alan Chow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Larry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alan Chow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Larry!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larry tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Chow moves into the clinch.

Larry's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Larry bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Chow's head backwards.
Chow will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Larry just misses with a punch to the body.
Larry moves out of range as Chow throws a body kick.
Larry closes the distance and clinches up with Chow, looking for a takedown. Larry pushes Chow against the cage but Chow circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Chow shoots in but Larry avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Chow misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Larry shoots in looking for a takedown. Chow tries to sprawl out of it but Larry keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chow manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Chow moves into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chow throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Larry blocks it with crossed arms.

Larry breaks the clinch.
Chow defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Larry.
Alan Chow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Larry.

Chow takes the fight into the clinch.

Larry breaks from the clinch.
Chow misses with a takedown

and Larry counters with a takedown into side control.
Chow manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Chow trying to control from the bottom.
Chow keeping hold of Larry's head, controlling as best he can.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chow is looking for a sweep. Larry is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Larry is looking for a kimura but Chow is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Larry to get the leverage.
Chow is trying to maintain the position but Larry is very close to passing his half guard.
Chow is trying is best to control the position here.
Chow has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Alan Chow.
Chow defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Larry.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Chow is defended easily by Larry.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Chow ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Chow no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Larry would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Larry must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Larry tries to free his leg and advance position but Chow is retaining full guard.

Chow gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Larry has closed the distance and engaged Chow in a clinch.

Larry has hold of one of Chow's legs. Chow is fighting the takedown attempt but Larry gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chow lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Larry!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alan Chow will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Chow is trying hard to land a takedown here. Larry sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Larry manages to pull guard.

Chow misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Chow tries to score with some ground and pound. Larry controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Larry is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Chow is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Chow tries to control but Larry wriggling away.
Larry really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chow. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Chow unloads with some shots from mount but Larry bucks and avoids them well.
Larry is trying to reverse the position but instead Chow has taken his back - oops!
What can Larry do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Chow is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Chow tries to keep control of the position but Larry is staying busy.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Chow is riding his opponent, not letting Larry buck him off.
Larry tries to roll but Chow sticks to his back.
Larry covering up well under a series of strikes from Chow.
Good control from Chow.

Chow working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Larry is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Chow has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Larry taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Alan Chow!
