The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell scores with a one two! Archavin had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

It looks like Zane Archavin has been cut.
Archavin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Liddell scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Archavin is trying to control Liddell's posture but Liddell avoids it.

Liddell has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Archavin is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Liddell is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Archavin has escaped the position, nice work there.
Liddell scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Archavin to see if he's OK.

Liddell stands up.
Liddell looks for the body kick but Archavin saw that one coming.

Liddell shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Archavin's guard.

Archavin is rocked!

Liddell gets to his feet - Archavin follows without any prompting.
Archavin is still on wobbly legs! Can Liddell finish him?
Liddell throws a head kick that misses.

Liddell pushes Archavin up against the cage in a clinch.
Liddell throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Archavin blocks it with crossed arms.

Liddell has Archavin pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Liddell pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Archavin tumbling to the mat - Liddell dives into Archavin's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Liddell content to stall in guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Liddell passes Archavin's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Liddell uses his free foot to push down on Archavin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Archavin.
Liddell loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Archavin scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Liddell land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Liddell stands and salutes the crowd.
