PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frank Tank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Watts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Tank!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ken Watts!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watts keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Tank.
Tank throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Watts.
Watts steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Tank.
Tank lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Tank throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Watts sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Watts bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tank fails to land with a series of punches.
Tank throws a series of punches but Watts avoids them all with ease.
Watts ducks under a wild hook from Tank.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tank misses the shot to the body.
Watts slips a jab and a cross from Tank.
Tank will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Watts darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Tank is looking to control Watts's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tank avoid being mounted?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Watts slows the pace down in half guard.
Let's hope that Watts has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tank desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Tank pushes Watts off but Watts dives into side control.
Watts working away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tank is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Tank is trying to get back to full guard.
Watts is controlling the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Watts's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Watts dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Tank throws a nice looking combination but Watts bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Tank throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Tank throws a lazy right hand but Watts sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Watts closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tank to the mat! Tank manages to get full guard.
Tank is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Watts stays in close to Tank's body and controls the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tank is trying to control the position but Watts postures up.
Tank manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Tank tries to stand up but Watts grabs his leg and drags him down! Watts is now on top, in side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Watts tries to move to full mount but Tank actually manages to regain half guard.
Watts stops Tank from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Watts is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Tank is looking to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Watts is taking a breather. Tank says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Tank wants to get back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Watts is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Watts showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Tank tries for a takedown but Watts circles away easily

and Watts counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Tank's guard now.
Tank looking to control.
Tank can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Watts controls the pace.
Tank looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tank wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Watts manages to pass to side control.
Watts slows the pace down in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Watts is pressing down on Tank's thigh, looking to free his foot. Tank is holding on for now.
Tank tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Watts manages to move to mount!
Watts takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Frank Tank has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Despite being in the dominant position, Ken Watts just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Watts closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tank to the mat! Tank manages to get full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ken Watts comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Watts winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
