Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, David Gatti!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers is looking to clinch but Gatti is avoiding it.
Nice uppercut lands for Gatti. That snapped Rogers's head back.
Rogers fails to land the takedown.
Gatti lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Gatti fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Rogers feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Rogers wants to control from the top but Gatti keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gatti is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rogers sitting in guard, not really doing much.

We're going to have a standup here because Mark Rogers wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Horrible takedown by Rogers or perhaps it was just good defense by Gatti which made him look bad.
Rogers fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Rogers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rogers throws a wild body kick that Gatti sees coming a mile off.
The crowd cheers as Gatti lands an impressive looking overhand right. Rogers doesn't seem phased though.
Rogers pivots, looking for a leg kick but Gatti is out of range and Rogers settles back down.
Gatti misses with a double jab.
Gatti stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Gatti throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rogers on the side of the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gatti stuns Rogers with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Gatti works over Rogers's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like Mark Rogers has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gatti throws out a powerful jab.
Rogers tries for a takedown but Gatti sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rogers is breathing heavily.

Rogers gets a clinch.
Rogers has Gatti pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gatti manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Gatti stalling in the clinch but Rogers improves position.
Rogers goes for a takedown attempt but Gatti pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Rogers fails with a takedown attempt.

A combination from Gatti does no damage.
Gatti digs a good body shot into Rogers's ribs.
Gatti misses with a jab, cross combination.
Gatti stuns Rogers with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Gatti looks to land a combination but Rogers avoids it well.
A jab lands there for Gatti.
Gatti lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Gatti dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Gatti drops Rogers with a beautiful combination! Rogers stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Gatti is looking for the KO!


Rogers is rocked!
Mark Rogers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rogers takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Oh Rogers is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rogers on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Rogers tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gatti swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gatti lands a right hook to the body.
Gatti scores with a shot to the body.
Rogers seems to have got his legs back now.
Gatti lands with an overhand left.
Gatti punishes Rogers's body with a nice straight punch.
Gatti connects with a combination that backs up Rogers into the cage. Gatti lands a flurry of punches that gets past Rogers's guard. Rogers is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Gatti bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Gatti!
Our winner, David Gatti, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
