PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yamapi Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chan's entrance music is Ikenai Tayou. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yamapi Chan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 9 - 3, fighting out of London, Sean Quinn!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chan throws out a leg kick but Quinn moves out of range and Chan only half commits.
Chan misses with a takedown attempt - Quinn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Chan looks to throw the jab but Quinn is out of range.
Good shot there by Quinn.
Chan shoots in for a takedown but Quinn shows good takedown defense.
Chan avoids the body shot from Quinn.
Quinn throws a sloppy body shot

and Chan counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Chan throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Quinn is not content to let Chan control the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chan controlling the pace.
Chan missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quinn holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Chan throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Chan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Chan is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Quinn is just riding it out for now. Chan eventually gives up the hold.
Chan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Chan is looking to advance position but Quinn won't allow it.

Quinn works his way to full guard. Good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Chan passes Quinn's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Chan thows a huge punch but Quinn dodges it nicely.

Chan seems to be working for a kimura but Quinn defends the submission attempt.
Chan is trying to control the action in half guard but Quinn is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Chan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Quinn is trying to get back to full guard.
Chan is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Quinn!

Chan goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Quinn is on top in guard.
Quinn must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Chan wants to sweep here but Quinn controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Quinn sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Quinn pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Chan is keeping the position for now.

Chan throws his legs up looking for a submission but Quinn uses it to pass to side control.

Quinn stands up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Quinn stuffs the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yamapi Chan dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Chan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Quinn throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Chan throws a quick inside leg kick.
Nice straight punches there by Quinn. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Quinn.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Chan.
Quinn just misses with a punch to the body.
Chan gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Chan missing with a left hand there. Quinn was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Quinn fails in his attempt to clinch.
Quinn throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chan walks into a left hand.
Quinn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Chan manages to avoid it.
Chan shoots in but Quinn avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Quinn misses with an uppercut

and Chan counters with a nice double leg into side control. Quinn won't be happy with that.
Chan trying to control the position but Quinn is working away.
Chan misses with the ground and pound.

Chan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Chan goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Quinn rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Chan's guard! Nice work there by Quinn!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Quinn trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Quinn wanted to stand there but Chan had control of the position.

Chan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Quinn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Chan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Quinn is aware though and is defending well.
Quinn slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Chan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Quinn trying to stand up but can't free himself from Chan's guard.
Quinn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Chan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chan looking for a sweep. Not yet Chan, not yet.

Chan throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Chan is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Quinn frees his head nicely. Oh but Chan has switched to an armbar! Quinn is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Yamapi Chan!
