And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bess throws a leg kick that misses.
McManus tries to clinch but Bess moves out of range.

Bess dives in and scores a takedown into McManus's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Bess trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
McManus looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bess is one step ahead there.
Bess is stalling in the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Davon Bess wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Bess gets a double leg takedown into McManus's guard.
Bess stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McManus swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McManus is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Bess dives into side control.

Bess decides to take the fight back to the feet.
McManus stuffs the takedown.

Bess fakes a jab and throws a low kick but McManus checks it well.
McManus lands a two punch combo.


It looks like Davon Bess has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McManus throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Bess circles away from the clinch attempt.
The fighters circle momentarily. McManus darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
McManus misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McManus fails with an attempt to clinch.
That kick from McManus tenderised Bess's leg. Bess is trying to keep his angry face on.
McManus throws a right and a left that Bess avoids nicely.
McManus looks winded!
McManus throws a series of strikes that have Bess backpedaling.
McManus tries to clinch up but Bess circles away and keeps his distance.
Bess tries to score a power double leg takedown but McManus sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bess somewhat.
McManus wants to clinch.

and Bess counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
McManus prevents Bess from breaking the clinch.
McManus tries to break the clinch but Bess is controlling the position.
Bess wants to take the fight to the mat but McManus manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

McManus lands a knee to the body.
McManus tries to break free but Bess pushes him back against the cage.
McManus crunches a lovely knee into Bess's ribcage.

McManus tries to close the distance and clinch but Bess swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

McManus scores with a crisp jab that stopped Bess in his tracks.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McManus wants to clinch but Bess slips to the side

and Bess counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in McManus's guard now.

McManus has a closed guard, preventing Bess from standing up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McManus tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bess paws at him with a jab and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Davon Bess's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


McManus fails with an attempt to clinch.

McManus lands a big head kick that sends Bess tumbling to the mat! McManus takes a step backwards and waves Bess back to his feet - he wants the finish!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McManus is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
McManus fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bess fails with the takedown.
Bess looks for a takedown but McManus sprawls well.
McManus tries to clinch up.

Bess takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Bess tries to circle away but McManus has him pinned against the cage.
McManus lands a knee to the head.
A frustrated look appears on McManus's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Bess breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Murphy McManus seems to be getting the better of the standup.
McManus moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Bess looking to score a takedown here. McManus is defending well but Bess drives through and ends up in McManus's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McManus wants to sweep here but Bess controlling him for the moment.
Bess wants to pass the guard but McManus is keeping the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McManus wants to control the position but Bess says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Bess working over McManus with some ground and pound. McManus looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Bess passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for McManus!

Bess can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McManus is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Murphy McManus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Davon Bess's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Bess keeps the fight on the outside.
Bess throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McManus's waist but McManus gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bess off to one side.
McManus lands a jab-cross combination.
McManus stalks Bess and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Bess's face. Bess staggers backwards, shaken.
Bess has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by McManus.
McManus tries to close the distance and clinch but Bess swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bess takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
This has been an exciting period of action!
McManus scores with a leg kick.

McManus drops Bess with a beautiful combination! Bess stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - McManus is looking for the KO!


Bess is rocked!
Bess chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before McManus can pounce on him.
Oh Bess is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
McManus lands a nice hook to Bess's body. Bess takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
McManus connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Bess tumbling to the canvas! McManus pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Bess was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Murphy McManus!
Murphy McManus seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
