PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adolf Ellenberger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damian Roshan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellenberger comes to the cage accompanied by Soldier. Roshan has chosen The Cranberries-Zombie as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adolf Ellenberger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damian Roshan!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ellenberger misses with an uppercut
and Roshan counters with a head kick. That will keep Ellenberger thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

and Roshan counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Roshan tries to pass to full mount but Ellenberger defends it.
Roshan content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Roshan wants to work for an arm triangle but Ellenberger is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Roshan with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
It looks like Roshan might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Damian Roshan was stalling too much, according to the referee.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Roshan checks a leg kick.
Ellenberger throws a leg kick
and Roshan counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
A head kick by Ellenberger misses
and Roshan counters with a nice low kick that buckles Ellenberger's knee momentarily.

Roshan closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ellenberger's guard.
Ellenberger controls Roshan momentarily but Roshan frees himself.

Ellenberger looking for a guillotine here but Roshan defends easily.
Roshan sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ellenberger's guard.
Ellenberger wants to get back to full guard but Roshan has mounted him!

Ellenberger throws a solid leg kick but Roshan takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Ellenberger.

Roshan shoots in but Ellenberger avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Ellenberger wants to land a leg kick but Roshan is out of range.
Ellenberger cracks a nice hook into Roshan's ribs.

Ellenberger is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Roshan.
Roshan tried to score with a low kick but Ellenberger checks it.

and Roshan counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Ellenberger misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ellenberger ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Roshan moves away.
Ellenberger throws a nice inside leg kick.

Roshan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Roshan showed some decent athleticism there.

Ellenberger is looking for a sweep. Roshan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Damian Roshan has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Ellenberger scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Ellenberger is looking to clinch but Roshan is avoiding it.
Roshan tried to score with a low kick but Ellenberger checks it.

and Roshan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Ellenberger.
A chopping leg kick lands by Ellenberger.
Adolf Ellenberger is winning the standup battle so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ellenberger lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Ellenberger buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Ellenberger throws a chopping leg kick but Roshan manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Some bone on bone action there as Roshan checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Ellenberger fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Roshan is out of range.
Roshan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ellenberger defends it nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damian Roshan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Roshan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
