PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Walking Eagle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryszard Murat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Murat as Eagle shoots in.
Eagle pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Eagle tries to clinch but Murat moves out of range.
Murat fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Eagle.
That kick from Murat tenderised Eagle's leg. Eagle is trying to keep his angry face on.
Eagle wants to clinch up but Murat keeps it at a distance.
Murat scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Murat connects with a right hand. Eagle shakes it off.
Murat scores with a jab to the head.
Murat lands with an uppercut that bounces Eagle off the cage and back into range.

Eagle instigates a clinch.

Eagle pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Murat fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Eagle forces Murat back against the cage and clinches.
Eagle drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Murat wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Eagle has him pressed against the cage.
Murat misses with a body punch.
Murat is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Murat struggles to land a body shot inside as Eagle controls his hands.

Murat is trying to break free.
Murat goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Eagle is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Murat can't fight it off and eventually Eagle manages to take the fight to the floor. Murat looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Eagle slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Eagle might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Eagle's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Walking Eagle wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Horrible takedown by Eagle or perhaps it was just good defense by Murat which made him look bad.

Murat gets tackled into the cage by Eagle. Eagle maintains the clinch.

Eagle prevents Murat from breaking the clinch.
Murat tries to throw a body punch but Eagle avoids it by throwing Murat back against the cage.

Eagle manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Eagle is looking to clinch but Murat is avoiding it.
Murat dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Murat connects with a body shot that sends Eagle's belly button to the back.
Nice takedown defense from Murat. No joy for Eagle on that attempt.

Murat throws a leg kick but Eagle checks it.

Murat lands a nice hook to Eagle's body. Eagle takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Eagle clinches.
Eagle stalls.
Murat tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Murat wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Eagle's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Murat is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Murat connects with a single shot there.
Eagle takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Walking Eagle will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Murat scores with the left hand. Eagle knows he should have avoided that one.

Murat goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Murat connects with a body shot that sends Eagle's belly button to the back.
Ryszard Murat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Eagle shoots in and drives through. Murat sprawls well.

Eagle drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Eagle is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Eagle loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Eagle is pushing down on Murat's leg trying to pass to half guard. Murat is fighting to maintain full guard but Eagle has managed to sneak the leg through.
Eagle thows a huge punch but Murat dodges it nicely.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Walking Eagle just wasn't active enough.
Eagle checks a low kick from Murat.
Murat works Eagle's body with a nice hook.
Eagle takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Murat wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Eagle bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Murat is looking for a sweep.
Eagle controls the position.
Murat tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Eagle looking to control and managing it successfully.
Eagle thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Eagle is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Murat can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
BOOM! Eagle connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Walking Eagle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
