Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Grant Gaines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. In The End by: Linkin Park kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Konstantin Menshow and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gaines is looking to clinch.
Peterson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Peterson on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Gaines is trying to break the clinch but Peterson has him pressed against the cage.

Gaines seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Peterson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gaines is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Peterson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Gaines closes the distance and clinches up with Peterson, looking for a takedown. Gaines pushes Peterson against the cage but Peterson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Peterson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gaines's guard.
Gaines is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Peterson has hold of Gaines's hands but Gaines slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gaines fails with an attempt to clinch.

Gaines shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Peterson trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Gaines stands up over Peterson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Peterson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gaines throws a leg kick which misses Peterson's front leg but catches the back leg as Peterson tries to avoid it.
Peterson swats away the attempt to clinch by Gaines.

Gaines shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Gaines was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Gaines has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Peterson is in real trouble here. Gaines gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Peterson is tapping out! Gaines wins by rear naked choke!
