PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rex Agullo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Valley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Agullo comes to the cage accompanied by california love. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valley shoots in but no luck this time.
Valley scores with a jab.
Valley misses with a takedown attempt - Agullo sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Valley is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Agullo misses with a right hand

and Valley counters by moving into the clinch.
Agullo is trying to force a seperation but Valley has the dominant position.
Agullo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Valley fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Valley shoots for a double leg takedown but Agullo sprawls well. He's pushed Valley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rex Agullo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Valley.
Valley tries to score a power double leg takedown but Agullo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Valley somewhat.
Agullo tries to clinch but Valley moves away

and Valley moves into the clinch.

Valley ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Valley no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Agullo looking to sit in guard and control but Valley gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Valley gets to his feet - Agullo follows without any prompting.

Valley shoots in and drives through. Agullo sprawls well.
Agullo throws a head kick that misses.
Agullo looks to land a combination but Valley avoids it well.
Valley changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Agullo fails with an attempt to clinch.

Valley shoots in looking for a takedown but Agullo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Valley's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Valley counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Valley is trying hard to land a takedown here. Agullo sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Agullo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Valley looks for a takedown but Agullo sprawls well.
Agullo cracks Valley with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Valley is still on wobbly legs! Can Agullo finish him?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Valley seems to have recovered his senses.

Agullo decides to stand back up. Agullo steps back and let's Valley get back to his feet.
Valley tries to score a power double leg takedown but Agullo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Valley somewhat.
Agullo throws the kick towards the body but Valley avoids it.
Valley avoids the head kick by Agullo.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Agullo is defended easily by Valley.
Agullo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Valley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Valley putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Agullo in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rex Agullo will probably get the nod.

Horrible takedown by Valley or perhaps it was just good defense by Agullo which made him look bad.
Agullo throws a right hand that Valley ducks under and follows up with a left that Valley also avoids with ease.

Valley throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Agullo's waist but Agullo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Valley off to one side.

Agullo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Valley swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Valley makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Agullo really felt that one!

Agullo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Valley napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Agullo wants to take a breather but Valley manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Agullo.

Valley wants to get back to his feet but Agullo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rex Agullo will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Agullo walks forward, straight into a front kick from Valley.

Valley rushes Agullo and presses him up against the cage.

Valley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Agullo jumps guard but Valley turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Agullo tries to break free but Valley pushes him back against the cage.

Valley manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Valley takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Agullo controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Agullo trying to control but Valley is working from the bottom.
Agullo preventing the sweep.
Valley seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Agullo slips nicely into half guard.
Valley blocking the ground and pound attempt from Agullo.

The fighters are battling for position here. Valley manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Valley not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Agullo trying to control but Valley is working from the bottom.

Agullo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Valley swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Valley thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Valley uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Valley throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Agullo.
Agullo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Agullo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Valley avoids it really well and circles away.
Agullo fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rex Agullo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Valley shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Agullo but Agullo pushes him off and we're back to square one.

I would just about give that final round to Jay Valley.
I think Agullo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Rex Agullo decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
