Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gavin Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ruben Escandon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Charles's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, ``Give It All`` -Rise Against. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gavin Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ruben Escandon!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Charles shoots in and bounces Escandon off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Escandon is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Charles stands up over Escandon, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Escandon wants to stand up but Charles is controlling him.
Charles pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Escandon is keeping the position for now.
Escandon can't keep his opponent in guard - Charles advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Charles stops Escandon from getting back to his feet.
Charles lands with a punch from half guard.
Escandon on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Charles seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Escandon is trying to stand.

Charles is keen to just control but Escandon is a slippery customer.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Charles decides to stand up, so the ref orders Escandon to his feet.
Escandon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Charles moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Charles walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Charles fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Charles throws a hook but Escandon avoids it easily.

Charles shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Escandon is looking to escape.

Charles seems to be working for a kimura but Escandon defends the submission attempt.
Charles stops Escandon from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Charles passes to side control.
Charles scoring with punches and elbows.
Escandon is trying to buck Charles off.

Charles advances to mount.
Charles connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Charles looking to finish Escandon with some ground and pound. This is bad for Escandon!

Escandon tries to buck Charles off but he can't manage it.
Escandon is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Charles pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Charles misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Escandon wants to try and get back to his feet.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Charles cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Escandon is trying to stand up.
Escandon manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Charles looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Charles takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Escandon wants to get back to his feet.

Charles stands up and beckons Escandon to join him on the feet.
Escandon misses with the combination.
Escandon throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Charles.

Charles closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Escandon is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Charles manages to pull guard.
Charles is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Charles on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Charles tries to get out of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Escandon's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Escandon duly obliges.
Escandon checks a leg kick.
Escandon fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ruben Escandon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Charles misses with a looping left.
Escandon tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Charles counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Charles has picked Escandon up - he's going for a ride! Charles dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Charles tries to pass the half guard into mount. Escandon knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Charles passes to side control.
Escandon pushes Charles away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Charles gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Escandon should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Charles winds up and cracks Escandon with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Escandon makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Escandon lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Escandon.
Charles looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Escandon works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Escandon throws a nice looking combination but Charles bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Charles closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Charles is nestled in close to Escandon, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Escandon manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Charles swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Charles closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Charles lands in his opponent's guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Charles feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Escandon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Charles gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Charles gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Charles tries for a takedown but Escandon sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Escandon lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Escandon throws out a loose jab but Charles uses good head movement to avoid it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Charles dips to his left and cracks Escandon with an uppercut!

Charles darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Charles prevents Escandon from standing back up.
Charles is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Escandon!
BOOM! Charles connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Escandon is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Ruben Escandon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Escandon swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Escandon squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Charles scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Charles is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Escandon can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Charles postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Escandon looks a forlorn figure.
Charles blocks Escandon's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gavin Charles showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Charles, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
