The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Williams looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Paaine slips a jab and a cross from Williams.
Williams looks to throw the jab but Paaine is out of range.

Paaine gets tackled into the cage by Williams. Williams maintains the clinch.
Paaine is looking to take this one to the mat.

Paaine jumps guard but Williams turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Paaine has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Williams uses from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Williams is looking to stand up but Paaine won't let him.

Williams wants to pass the guard but Paaine is keeping the position.

Paaine is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Paaine seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams looks like he's trying to stand up.

Paaine is trying to control. Williams wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Paaine is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Williams sees it coming and defends easily.
Williams knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Paaine on the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Paaine looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Williams with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Paaine moves nicely into side control.
Williams is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Paaine has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Williams is looking to regain half guard here but Paaine keeps moving and retains side control.

Paaine tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Paaine has hold of Williams's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Williams seems comfortable defending it but Paaine has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Williams is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Williams is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Paaine couldn't care less - he's delighted!
