PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dallas Devil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gordon Dragic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dragic is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: One more night. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dallas Devil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gordon Dragic!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Dragic checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Devil scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Devil looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Devil attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Dragic ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Dragic doesn't manage to clinch there - Devil circles away.
Dragic pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Devil misses with a low kick.
Nice sprawl there from Devil as Dragic shoots in.

Devil tries to keep at a distance but Dragic has taken the fight into the clinch.
Devil wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dragic has him pressed against the cage.
Devil tries to break the clinch but Dragic is controlling the position.

Dragic's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Devil pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A swing and a miss from Devil.
Dragic fails to land the takedown.
Dragic with a poor takedown
and Devil counters with a left and a right that stings Dragic.
Dallas Devil has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gordon Dragic.

and Devil counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dragic not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Devil looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Devil stopping the sweep attempt from Dragic.
Devil is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dragic tries to strike from the bottom.
Devil slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Dallas Devil wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Devil throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A left lands for Devil.
Devil throws the kick towards the body but Dragic avoids it.
The fighters circling - Devil throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Dragic blocks a low kick nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dragic will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Devil throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Dragic tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Devil is in Dragic's guard.
Devil is stalling in the full guard.
Dragic working a defensive guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dragic looking for a sweep. Not yet Dragic, not yet.
Devil stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dragic swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dragic trying to keep a closed guard but Devil is proving a slippery customer.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Gordon Dragic hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Dragic changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Devil tries to avoid it but Dragic manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Devil to the ground. Devil escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dragic looks winded!
Dragic avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Dragic doesn't manage to clinch there - Devil circles away.
Dragic fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Dragic shoots in for a takedown but Devil shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Devil looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Dragic!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Devil is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dragic has escaped the position, nice work there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Devil wants to control but Dragic is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dallas Devil dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Devil connects with a good right hand that stumbles Dragic. Dragic circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Devil throws a big shot that misses.
Devil throws a low kick, looking for Dragic's leg but Dragic calmly moves out of range.
Devil scores with a jab.
Dragic tries to score a power double leg takedown but Devil sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dragic somewhat.
Dragic is trying desperately to land a takedown but Devil is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Dragic.

Dragic moves into the clinch.
Stalling in the clinch from Dragic.
Dragic misses with an elbow over the top.
Devil is pressed up against the cage. Dragic has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Devil down to the mat. Devil avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Devil throws a chopping leg kick but Dragic manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dragic fails with the takedown

and Devil counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Devil.
Dallas Devil has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gordon Dragic.
Dragic is breathing heavily.
Devil advances position into side control!
Devil trying to control the position but Dragic is working away.
Devil taking a breather here.

Devil has hold of Dragic's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Dragic seems comfortable defending it but Devil has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Dragic is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Dragic is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Devil couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dallas Devil!
Dallas Devil seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
