PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Lester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bryan Lester!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones shoots and misses
and Lester counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lester.
Lester breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jones tries to clinch but Lester moves away
and Lester counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jones won't be happy with that.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jones is trying to escape the position but Lester is controlling the position.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Lester decides to stand back up. Lester steps back and let's Jones get back to his feet.
Lester looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lester gets to his feet - Jones follows without any prompting.
Lester scores with a takedown into Jones's guard.
Jones is rocked!
Lester sitting in guard here, content to control.
Oh Jones is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones can't keep his opponent in guard - Lester advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Lester is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Jones is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Bryan Lester!
An out of breath Bryan Lester thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
