The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fontenele fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Tyson clinches with his opponent.

Tyson pulls guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Tyson throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Tyson can't keep his opponent in guard - Fontenele advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Fontenele stalling away here and it's allowed Tyson to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Tyson has control of Fontenele's left arm, preventing Fontenele from doing any damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tyson is on top in guard.

Fontenele got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tyson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fontenele has managed to get both his arms back between Tyson's legs - danger averted.
Tyson is pulling down on Fontenele's head. It's preventing any offense from Fontenele, at least for the moment.
Fontenele wants to control from the top but Tyson keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fontenele is really struggling to control Tyson but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Tyson cracks a nice hook into Fontenele's ribs.
Fontenele connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Fontenele misses with a lunging right hand
and Tyson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Tyson tries to move into range but Fontenele moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Fontenele uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Tyson.

Tyson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Tyson goes for a takedown attempt but Fontenele pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Tyson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Fontenele on the side of the head.

Tyson drives through and clinches with Fontenele against the cage.
Fontenele tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Tyson's elbow.

Fontenele is trying to push Tyson away but Tyson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Tyson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rafael Fontenele has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Tyson.

Tyson jumps guard and drags Fontenele to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Tyson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Fontenele stacks Tyson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Fontenele!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Fontenele postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Fontenele drops back, looking for a kneebar! Tyson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Tyson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Tyson!

Fontenele sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mike Tyson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Fontenele tries to move into range but Tyson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Fontenele lands a really nice looking cross but Tyson seems unphased.

Tyson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Fontenele momentarily.
