PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Fajardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ichigo Kurosaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ed Fajardo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ichigo Kurosaki!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurosaki lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kurosaki.
Fajardo pushes Kurosaki away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kurosaki gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Kurosaki decides to stand back up.
A right-left combo lands from Fajardo.
Fajardo misses with a takedown

and Kurosaki counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kurosaki is looking to stand up but Fajardo won't let him.
Fajardo wants to stand up but Kurosaki is controlling him.
Kurosaki content to stall in guard here.
Let's hope that Kurosaki has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Kurosaki's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Fajardo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Fajardo controls Kurosaki momentarily but Kurosaki frees himself.

Kurosaki gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Fajardo tries to clinch up but Kurosaki circles away and keeps his distance.

and Kurosaki counters by moving into the clinch.
Fajardo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kurosaki smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ed Fajardo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fajardo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fajardo showed some decent athleticism there.
Fajardo is breathing heavily.

Fajardo is stalling here. Kurosaki is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Fajardo seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kurosaki has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Kurosaki looks up at the clock and then as Fajardo takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kurosaki smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Kurosaki is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Fajardo's shoulder. That is not cool.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kurosaki landing strikes.
Kurosaki happy to just control the position for now.

Kurosaki decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Kurosaki tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Fajardo counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kurosaki's guard now.

Fajardo is fighting to break Kurosaki's control of his arms but Kurosaki is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Kurosaki is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Fajardo is controlling him.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kurosaki is on top in guard.
Kurosaki stays in close to Fajardo's body and controls the position.
Kurosaki lands a couple of elbows.

I looks like Kurosaki might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Despite being in the dominant position, Ichigo Kurosaki just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kurosaki scores with a jab to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fajardo takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Fajardo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fajardo lands in his opponent's guard.

Fajardo wants to stand but Kurosaki has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kurosaki wants to sweep here but Fajardo controlling him for the moment.

Kurosaki is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Fajardo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kurosaki swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kurosaki is looking to clinch but Fajardo is avoiding it.
Ichigo Kurosaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kurosaki takes a swing at Fajardo's ribcage but misses.
Kurosaki tries to clinch but Fajardo moves away
and Fajardo counters with a nice leg kick.

Fajardo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Ichigo Kurosaki has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fajardo tries to control but Kurosaki wriggling away.
Fajardo thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Kurosaki is looking to escape.
Fajardo is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Kurosaki slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Kurosaki keeping moving, preventing Fajardo from controlling successfully.

Fajardo looking to sit in guard and control but Kurosaki gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Kurosaki is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Kurosaki gets to his feet. Fajardo looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Fajardo takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fajardo goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Fajardo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kurosaki moves away.
A punch combination from Fajardo misses.
Kurosaki tries to clinch up

and Fajardo counters by clinching up.
Fajardo is looking to break free of the clinch but Kurosaki has double underhooks.

Kurosaki manages to break the clinch.
Fajardo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kurosaki.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kurosaki looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kurosaki moves in looking to clinch but Fajardo pushes him off.

Kurosaki darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Ichigo Kurosaki will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Fajardo swats away the attempt to clinch by Kurosaki.
Kurosaki doesn't manage to clinch there - Fajardo circles away.
Fajardo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Kurosaki moves into the clinch.
Fajardo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kurosaki just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kurosaki tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Fajardo takes an elbow to the forehead.
Fajardo wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Fajardo blocks an elbow strike from Kurosaki.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kurosaki misses with a knee strike.

Kurosaki breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Kurosaki has closed the distance and engaged Fajardo in a clinch.

Fajardo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Fajardo tries to clinch but Kurosaki moves out of range.

Fajardo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.


Fajardo is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kurosaki is pushing down on Fajardo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fajardo is fighting to maintain full guard but Kurosaki has managed to sneak the leg through.
Oh Fajardo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Kurosaki stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Kurosaki moves in close and cracks Fajardo with a massive right hand! Fajardo, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the cavas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by Kurosaki!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ichigo Kurosaki!
