Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ray Je (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Anthony (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Ray Je has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Je!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcus Anthony!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Je shoots in for a takedown but Anthony shows good takedown defense.
Je connects with a high kick.
Je shoots and misses

so Anthony counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Je trying to keep a closed guard but Anthony is proving a slippery customer.
Anthony throws an elbow that misses. Je uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Anthony's guard. Nice move by Je!
Je trying to stand up but can't free himself from Anthony's guard.
Je forces his way into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Anthony is defending against the submission attempts here by Je.
Je trying to control from half guard but Anthony is working away.

Je sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Anthony defending well though.
Je looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Je is just content to waste time from the top position. Anthony takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Anthony looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Je gets to his feet - Anthony follows without any prompting.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Je throws a nice head kick!
Je with a poor takedown

and Anthony counters with a takedown into side control.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ray Je. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Je is looking to regain half guard here but Anthony keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Je is trying to control Anthony's posture but Anthony avoids it.
Anthony trying to control the position but Je is working away.
You can see the frustration on Je's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Je manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Je keeping hold of Anthony's head, controlling as best he can.

Je is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Anthony thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Je manages to get to full guard.
Je trying to control the position.
Anthony works over Je with some ground and pound from guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Anthony prevents Je from getting back to his feet.
Je is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Anthony not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Je working a defensive guard but Anthony manages to pass into side control anyway.
Anthony grinds an elbow into Je's temple.
You can see the frustration on Je's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Anthony in side control lands a decent elbow.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Je manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Je trying to control from the bottom.
Je slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Je dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Anthony slips a straight right by Je.
Je fails in his attempt to clinch.

Je closes the distance and pushes Anthony back into the cage.
Je tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Anthony just stands there and leans against the cage.

Je breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Je drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Anthony is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Je keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Anthony's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Je throws a big right hand that misses.
Je trying to control but Anthony is working from the bottom.
Je throws an elbow that misses. Anthony uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Je's guard. Nice move by Anthony!
Anthony is fighting to break Je's control of his arms but Je is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Anthony throws a big right hand that misses.

Anthony wants to control from the top but Je keeps moving.
Anthony won't allow Je to sweep him here.
Je wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Anthony really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Je. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Je preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Anthony postures up in Je's guard and throws a big left but Je blocks it.
Anthony is in close to Je's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Anthony must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ray Je wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Je throws a sloppy head kick and Anthony moves out of range easily.
Ray Je is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Je misses with a takedown
and Anthony counters with a flying knee. Nice.
The fight stays on the outside here - Je looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Je shoots in looking for a takedown. Anthony tries to sprawl out of it but Je keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Anthony manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ray Je. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Je moves to clinch but Anthony breaks away

and Anthony counters with a takedown into side control.
Je keeps Anthony under control for a moment.
Je is trying to control Anthony's posture but Anthony avoids it.
Anthony misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Je takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The ground and pound from Anthony seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ray Je will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Je throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Ray Je seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Je doesn't manage to clinch there - Anthony circles away.
Je fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Je.
Je lands a head kick!
Je lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Anthony backs up against the cage.


Anthony is rocked!
Je wants to clinch up but Anthony keeps it at a distance.

Je misses with a takedown attempt
and Anthony counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Anthony counters with a solid body kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ray Je. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Je with a poor takedown

and Anthony counters with a shoot takedown. Je fights it but they end up in guard.

Je has his foot on Anthony's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Anthony works his way back into a safe position though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Anthony postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Anthony wants to control from the top but Je keeps moving.
Anthony in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Je is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Anthony defends well.
Anthony working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Anthony accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Anthony trying to control the position from guard on top but Je is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Je throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Anthony works over Je with some ground and pound from guard.

Je escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Anthony gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Anthony throws a big right hand that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Anthony's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Anthony trying to control the position from guard on top but Je is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Je is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Anthony gets full guard.

Je gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Anthony avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Je fails in his attempt to clinch.
Je tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Anthony swivels and escapes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Je feints a jab promting Anthony to slip. Je then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Anthony slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Je is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Je closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Anthony's face as he tries to break the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Anthony is trying to break the clinch but Je is controlling him.
Je tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Anthony smiles and moves away.
Marcus Anthony has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ray Je is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Je.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ray Je.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Je, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
