PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Neil Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Shark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Neil Harrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, James Shark!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harrison tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shark paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Shark tries to clinch but Harrison moves out of range.
Shark keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Shark avoids the head kick by Harrison.
Shark takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Harrison is looking to clinch but Shark is avoiding it.
Harrison is trying hard to land a takedown here. Shark sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Shark changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Harrison tries to avoid it but Shark manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Harrison to the ground. Harrison escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Shark looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Harrison is fending him off so far but Shark persists. Nope, Harrison circles away and we're back to standing.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Shark crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Harrison - the referee stops the clock and Shark gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Harrison. Shark manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Nice takedown defense from Shark. No joy for Harrison on that attempt.

Harrison throws the kick towards the body but Shark avoids it.

Shark tries to clinch up.
Harrison misses with a double jab.
Harrison tries to clinch there but Shark circles away.

Shark feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Harrison is breathing heavily.
Harrison is not content to let Shark control the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Neil Harrison.
Harrison fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
A bone on bone clash there as Harrison blocks the leg kick.

Shark has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shark is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Harrison is defending well for now.
Harrison looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Harrison has had enough of the clinch but Shark keeps him there for the moment.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Shark.
Harrison tries to circle away but Shark has him pinned against the cage.

Shark pulls guard effortlessly.
Shark is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Shark looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Harrison has picked Shark up and slammed him! Shark can't keep hold of the triangle and Harrison manages to pass to side control!

Harrison creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Shark sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Shark tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Harrison unloads with some shots from mount but Shark bucks and avoids them well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Harrison looking to ground and pound but Shark is blocking nicely.
Shark is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Harrison has taken his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but James Shark will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Harrison lands with a straight right. Shark didn't see that one coming.
Shark keeps the fight on the outside.
Shark closes the distance and clinches up with Harrison, looking for a takedown. Shark pushes Harrison against the cage but Harrison circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Shark shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Shark showed some decent athleticism there.
Harrison keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Harrison tries to roll over but Shark keeps him under control.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Shark in particular looking to stall.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shark seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Harrison is not content to let Shark control the position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Shark tries to score a power double leg takedown but Harrison sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Shark somewhat.
Shark looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Harrison keeps Shark at a distance using the push kick.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's time! Harrison's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Shark shoots in and bounces Harrison off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Shark is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Harrison is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Harrison utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Shark seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

James Shark is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I've got Shark winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
