Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jaime Carvalho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Claudio Alves Dutra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jaime Carvalho has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jaime Carvalho seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Carvalho holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Carvalho goes for a takedown in the clinch but Alves Dutra prevents it.
Alves Dutra gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Carvalho.

Alves Dutra wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Carvalho has him pressed against the cage.

Carvalho closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Alves Dutra quickly recovers to half guard.
Carvalho tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Carvalho is keen to just control but Alves Dutra is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carvalho frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Carvalho can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Alves Dutra is looking to escape.

Carvalho breaks from Alves Dutra's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Alves Dutra sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Carvalho is just content to waste time from the top position. Alves Dutra takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Carvalho is looking to stand up but Alves Dutra won't let him.

Carvalho got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alves Dutra has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carvalho has managed to get both his arms back between Alves Dutra's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alves Dutra has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Carvalho has passed into side control.

Carvalho knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alves Dutra on the ground.

Carvalho tries to bum rush Alves Dutra with a series of wild strikes but Alves Dutra uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Carvalho here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Alves Dutra dives in and grabs Carvalho's left leg, looking for a takedown. Carvalho pushes down on Alves Dutra's head and hops out.
Carvalho shoots in looking for a takedown but Alves Dutra manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carvalho's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Alves Dutra is pressed up against the cage. Carvalho has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Alves Dutra down to the mat. Alves Dutra avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Carvalho has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Alves Dutra is trying to keep an underhook but Carvalho manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Alves Dutra jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Carvalho walks away with a smile on his face. Alves Dutra gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Alves Dutra wants to clinch up but Carvalho keeps it at a distance.
Carvalho shoots in but no luck this time.
A slapping leg kick lands for Carvalho.
Carvalho shoots in looking for a takedown but Alves Dutra manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carvalho's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Carvalho shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Alves Dutra manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Alves Dutra is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Carvalho rolls with it to try and escape but Alves Dutra cranks on the arm and Carvalho is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
