PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dion Devlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Devlin shoots in for a double leg but Vega sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Devlin thows a body shot but no joy.

and Vega counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A combination from Devlin does no damage.
Dion Devlin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Devlin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vega as he avoids it easily.
Devlin throws a lazy right hand but Vega sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Devlin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vega tries to avoid it but Devlin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vega to the ground. Vega escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dion Devlin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Vega counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Vega.

A frustrated look appears on Devlin's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Devlin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Vega walks away with a smile on his face. Devlin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Devlin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Vega.

Devlin is trying to maintain a safe position but Vega gets an underhook and turns Devlin into the cage.

Vega stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Vega wants it to stay on the feet.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vega can do anything to dispel that myth.
