Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Doestevsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Pounder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doestevsky comes to the cage accompanied by New Divide. Pounder has chosen People in Planes-Last Man Standing as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Samuel Doestevsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jim Pounder!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pounder doesn't manage to clinch there - Doestevsky circles away.
Pounder misses with a body shot.
Pounder moves into range and connects with a jab.
Doestevsky swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Pounder counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Doestevsky's guard now.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Pounder drops back looking for a leg! Doestevsky is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Doestevsky manages to kick Pounder off! Pounder jumps back into Doestevsky's guard.
Pounder won't allow Doestevsky to get back to his feet.
Doestevsky is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Pounder is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pounder drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pounder jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Doestevsky uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Pounder smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Pounder drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Doestevsky dives on top into guard.

Pounder pushes Doestevsky off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Pounder connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Pounder tries to clinch up but Doestevsky circles away and keeps his distance.
Pounder tries to score a power double leg takedown but Doestevsky sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pounder somewhat.
Doestevsky lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pounder has his foot on Doestevsky's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Doestevsky works his way back into a safe position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Samuel Doestevsky just wasn't active enough.
Pounder circles away from the clinch attempt.

Some wild striking there from Doestevsky.
Doestevsky fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Doestevsky lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Jim Pounder dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Doestevsky tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pounder paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Pounder gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Pounder pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
No joy there for Doestevsky, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pounder.
Samuel Doestevsky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pounder wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Well Pounder has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
