Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
13 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jun Akiyama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shadow Deathgrip!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Kenichi Hosakawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akiyama tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Deathgrip swivels and escapes.
Akiyama on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Deathgrip. Deathgrip obviously looking to wear him down.
Deathgrip throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Akiyama was covering up waiting for the punch and Deathgrip finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Deathgrip distracts Akiyama with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Deathgrip makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Deathgrip drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Deathgrip jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Deathgrip advances to half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Akiyama knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Deathgrip on the ground.
Deathgrip in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Akiyama tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Deathgrip!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Shadow Deathgrip!
