PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jack Lyons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kai Kanerva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lyons might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Kvelertak- Kvelertak. Kai Kanerva has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jack Lyons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kai Kanerva!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lyons looks to land a body kick but Kanerva moved away.
Lyons misses with a few strikes there.
Lyons looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Lyons shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kanerva tries to roll over but Lyons keeps him under control.
Kanerva won't allow Lyons to pass to mount.
Kanerva wants to get back to full guard.
Kanerva trying to control from the bottom.
Kanerva is looking for a sweep. Lyons is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lyons throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kanerva is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Lyons looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kanerva clobbers Lyons with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Kanerva throws the left hand but Lyons avoids the punch easily.

Lyons feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kanerva is working an open guard so Lyons takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Lyons changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kanerva tries to avoid it but Lyons manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kanerva to the ground. Kanerva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A left lands for Kanerva.

It looks like Jack Lyons has been cut.

Kanerva lands a jab.

Lyons is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A jab from Kanerva misses.
Kanerva pounces like a tiger and cracks Lyons with a vicious hook! Lyons is down but not out! Kanerva follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
