Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roman Burza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Cozad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burza comes into the arena with Guns N' Roses - Welcome To The Jungle blaring out of the sound system. Roman Burza had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roman Burza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Charles Cozad!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cozad fails in his attempt to clinch.
Cozad throws a nice inside leg kick.
Cozad tries to clinch there but Burza circles away.
Burza shoots in looking for a takedown but Cozad manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Burza's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Cozad takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Burza doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Cozad counters with a nice uppercut.
Burza takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Roman Burza has been cut.
No joy there for Burza, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cozad has managed to clinch.
Burza wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Cozad lands an elbow inside.

Cozad breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cozad clobbers Burza with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Burza drives through with a takedown into Cozad's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Let's hope that Cozad has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Cozad tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Burza avoids it.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Cozad obliges.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burza wants to pass the guard but Cozad is keeping the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Cozad shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Burza's guard.

Burza changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cozad looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Roman Burza overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
What can Burza do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
