The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eliott shoots in for a takedown but Mitchell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Eliott fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mitchell avoids it really well and circles away.
Mitchell cracks Eliott with a good jab.

It looks like Jon Eliott has been cut.
Mitchell lands with a straight right. Eliott didn't see that one coming.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Eliott closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Eliott lands in his opponent's guard.
Eliott prevents Mitchell from getting back to his feet.
Eliott advances to half guard.
Eliott passes the guard and advances to mount!
Mitchell is squirming around, avoiding Eliott's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Eliott is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Mitchell can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Eliott wants to finish this one by submission but Mitchell is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Eliott.
