PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Otto Kaikkonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesco White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kaikkonen comes to the cage accompanied by Duran Duran - WIld Boys. White has chosen Smoke the Fire as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 30 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Otto Kaikkonen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 14 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jesco White!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Viktor Lagutenko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaikkonen darts in trying to clinch
and White counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kaikkonen thinking.
Kaikkonen ducks right into an uppercut from White.
White moves out of range of the body kick from Kaikkonen.
A head kick misses from Kaikkonen.
Kaikkonen swats away the attempt to clinch by White.
White blocks the body kick.
Kaikkonen throws a head kick that misses.

White tries to keep at a distance but Kaikkonen has taken the fight into the clinch.

White breaks the clinch.
Kaikkonen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from White.
Kaikkonen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Kaikkonen misses with a low kick.
White fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kaikkonen is out of range.
Kaikkonen needs to keep his hands up - White had a free shot at his head there.
Kaikkonen slaps away a takedown attempt from White, before circling back to the center of the mat.

White has had enough of the clinch but Kaikkonen keeps him there for the moment.

White fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kaikkonen avoids it really well and circles away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kaikkonen throws an uppercut from half a mile away. White sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Kaikkonen fakes a jab and throws a low kick but White checks it well.
Kaikkonen thows a leg kick but White checks it
and White cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
White feints a jab promting Kaikkonen to slip. White then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kaikkonen slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Kaikkonen forces White back against the cage and clinches.

White's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
White misses with a head kick.
Kaikkonen shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. White eats them both and turns towards Kaikkonen to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Kaikkonen misses with a few strikes there.

White takes the fight into the clinch.
White letting Kaikkonen take a breather here.
White jumps guard but Kaikkonen stands there with White around his waist. White gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
White looking for a takedown.
White throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Kaikkonen blocks it with crossed arms.

Kaikkonen prevents a body shot from White.

White's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
White throws a push kick but Kaikkonen slaps the foot to one side.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
White checks a low kick from Kaikkonen.
White is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
White swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kaikkonen thows a body shot but no joy.
White scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Otto Kaikkonen will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kaikkonen looks to land a combination but White avoids it well.

White manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
White wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kaikkonen wanted to stand there but White had control of the position.
White is breathing heavily.

White doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Kaikkonen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for White on the ground.
White has his hands on Kaikkonen's head, controlling the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jesco White was stalling too much, according to the referee.

White darts in and clinches Kaikkonen up against the cage.
Kaikkonen wants to get back to striking at distance but White won't allow it.

White turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

White decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kaikkonen to his feet.

White misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kaikkonen lands a nice looking body kick.
Left hook, right uppercut from Kaikkonen.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
White slaps away a takedown attempt from Kaikkonen, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kaikkonen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from White.
Kaikkonen throws a combination that misses
and White cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Kaikkonen connects with a solid leg kick.
White just misses with a punch to the body.
Kaikkonen throws a right and a left that White avoids nicely.
White has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Kaikkonen crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from White - the referee stops the clock and Kaikkonen gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says White. Kaikkonen manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

White shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

and White counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

White misses with a double jab.

White has managed to clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Kaikkonen throws a knee to the head but misses.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
White lands an elbow inside that Kaikkonen shrugs off.
Kaikkonen tries to break free but White pushes him back against the cage.
White jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kaikkonen walks away with a smile on his face. White gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
White looks to land a combination. Kaikkonen sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesco White showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


White fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kaikkonen has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

White lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

A frustrated look appears on Kaikkonen's face as he tries to break the clinch.
White is trying to drag Kaikkonen to the mat but Kaikkonen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Otto Kaikkonen.
I think Kaikkonen has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
