Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Akisame Hikaru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cristian Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hikaru comes to the cage accompanied by Ultimate Battle. Cristian Romero has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Akisame Hikaru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Cristian Romero!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hikaru shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Romero as he avoids it easily.
Romero takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Hikaru throws a looping overhand right but Romero ducks down to avoid it.

Romero pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Romero enables Hikaru to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Romero manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Romero parries the strikes from Hikaru easily there. Hikaru is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Romero to escape.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hikaru is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Romero is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hikaru cracks Romero with a big right hand but Romero just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Hikaru working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Romero is controlling Hikaru's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Hikaru seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Romero does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Romero throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Hikaru tries to land a front kick but Romero steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Romero shoots in for a takedown but Hikaru shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Akisame Hikaru has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cristian Romero.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hikaru changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Romero tries to avoid it but Hikaru manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Romero to the ground. Romero escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Romero is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

We're going to have a standup here because Akisame Hikaru wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Romero has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hikaru is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Hikaru ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hikaru no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Akisame Hikaru.
Well Hikaru has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
