The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Goon to the mat! Goon manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

It looks like Jackson is going to stand back up.

Jackson stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Goon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Goon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jackson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jackson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Goon is working away from the top position though.
Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Goon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Goon is looking for a kimura but Jackson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Goon to get the leverage.

Goon uses his free foot to push down on Jackson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jackson.
