Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Pyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brett Ureche (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Christopher Pyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brett Ureche!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ureche decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Ureche uses his free foot to push down on Pyle's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Pyle.
Pyle really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Pyle is trying desperately to improve position.
Pyle tries to lock up and control but Ureche gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Ureche sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Pyle wants to control but Ureche is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Pyle seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ureche for as long as he can get away with.

Pyle is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

A close round but Brett Ureche will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Pyle wanted to stand there but Ureche had control of the position.

Ureche doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Ureche avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ureche can do anything to dispel that myth.

We're going to have a standup here because Christopher Pyle wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Pyle throws a series of punches but Ureche moves out of range.

Ureche throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pyle was covering up waiting for the punch and Ureche finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Pyle escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ureche gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ureche's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Pyle is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ureche is aware though and is defending well.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I would just about give that final round to Brett Ureche.
