The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardoso misses with a takedown attempt - Rodriguez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rodriguez lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Rodriguez misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rodriguez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cardoso circles away quickly and effectively.
Rodriguez 's jab looks to have found its range, popping Cardoso under the eye.
Cardoso shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rodriguez sprawls well. Rodriguez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cardoso gets slowly back to his feet.
Rodriguez throws a right and a left that Cardoso avoids nicely.

Rodriguez lands a left and a right that send Cardoso crashing to the mat, dazed. Rodriguez thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Cardoso is rocked!

It looks like Fernandes Cardoso has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nice sprawl there from Rodriguez as Cardoso shoots in.
Cardoso is still on wobbly legs! Can Rodriguez finish him?
Kermit Rodriguez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fernandes Cardoso.
Cardoso wants to clinch up but Rodriguez keeps it at a distance.
Rodriguez lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Cardoso up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Rodriguez from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Cardoso's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
