PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Lawrence (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chew Bacca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lawrence might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Overture. Bacca has chosen 3rd world! as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Chew Bacca will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chew Bacca!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Emerson Jorge.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bacca digs a good hook to Lawrence's body.
Lawrence wants to clinch up but Bacca keeps it at a distance.

Bacca pushes Lawrence up against the cage in a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Lawrence's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Bacca jumps into guard, dragging Lawrence to the mat.
Bacca scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.
Lawrence might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bacca manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Lawrence tries to hold on but Bacca pushes him away.
Bacca pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bacca has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Lawrence's face.
Lawrence tries to lock up and control but Bacca gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Lawrence wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Lawrence is trying to break free.

Bacca is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Lawrence has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Bacca scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.

Lawrence tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Lawrence is wriggling around trying to escape.
Bacca working the ground and pound effectively.
Lawrence wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Bacca lands a big shot there that rocks Lawrence but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Bacca is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lawrence can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Bacca has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Lawrence's face.
Lawrence manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lawrence pushes Bacca off looking to stand but Bacca dives back in and keeps control.

Bacca seems to be working for a kimura but Lawrence defends the submission attempt.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bacca looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lawrence is looking to escape.
Lawrence is trying to control but can't.

Bacca seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Lawrence is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
