Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Ankudinov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carsten Jensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carsten Jensen looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eric Ankudinov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carsten Jensen!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ankudinov shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jensen is trying to defend but Ankudinov finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Ankudinov stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ankudinov is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Jensen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ankudinov.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ankudinov lands a nice short elbow.
Jensen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ankudinov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ankudinov slips a nice elbow through Jensen's hands, connecting with Jensen's forehead.
Ankudinov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jensen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ankudinov slows the pace down in half guard.
Jensen tries to kick Ankudinov off but Ankudinov keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Ankudinov wants to pass to mount but Jensen is defending the position.
Ankudinov drops an elbow to the side of Jensen's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jensen trying to control from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ankudinov perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Jensen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jensen looks winded!

Ankudinov is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jensen has managed to free his arm - good work.
Ankudinov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jensen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Ankudinov is taking a breather. Jensen says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Eric Ankudinov just wasn't active enough.
Jensen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ankudinov.

Jensen gets caught flat footed, as Ankudinov shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Ankudinov lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Ankudinov is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Ankudinov is stalling in the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ankudinov advances position into side control!
Ankudinov is working Jensen over with some ground and pound from side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Jensen is trying to control Ankudinov's posture but Ankudinov avoids it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jensen can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ankudinov is staying tight to Jensen's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Ankudinov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Eric Ankudinov.
Jensen swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ankudinov counters with a two punch combo.


Jensen is rocked!
Ankudinov throws a series of punches but Jensen moves out of range.
Jensen is still on wobbly legs! Can Ankudinov finish him?
Ankudinov tries to clinch up.

Ankudinov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jensen sprawls well initially but Ankudinov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Ankudinov wants to work for an arm triangle but Jensen is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ankudinov slows the pace down in half guard.
Ankudinov moves into full mount! Jensen won't be happy about that!
Ankudinov lands a big shot to the head and Jensen winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Eric Ankudinov!
