Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Arwind Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antony Smith!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side.
Santos has a takedown stuffed.
Santos tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smith swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arwind Santos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Horrible takedown by Santos or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith which made him look bad.
Santos shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Santos drives through and clinches with Smith against the cage.
Santos keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Smith's efforts to push away.

Smith throws a nice looking combination but Santos bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Santos has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Smith finds it's way round the side to connect with Santos's head.

Smith wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Smith is trying to push Santos away but Santos has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Santos misses with a body punch.

Smith wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Santos pulls guard successfully.
Smith wants to control from the top but Santos keeps moving.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Antony Smith hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Santos closes the distance and clinches.

Smith throws a looping overhand right but Santos ducks down to avoid it.

Smith looks to land a combination but Santos avoids it well.
Santos shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed Santos's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Smith lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Santos at a distance.
Santos shoots in and drives through. Smith sprawls well.
No luck for Santos with that takedown attempt.

Arwind Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Smith wants to control from the top but Santos keeps moving.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Santos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

and Santos counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Santos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Smith is fending him off so far but Santos persists. Nope, Smith circles away and we're back to standing.
Santos is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Smith.

and Smith counters with a series of strikes. Santos will be more careful next time no doubt.
Santos fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Smith avoids it really well and circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Smith slaps away a takedown attempt from Santos, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Smith jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Smith throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Smith feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Santoss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Smith throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Santos on the side of the head.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Santos as he jumps to the side.
Smith lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Smith misses with a double jab.
Santos tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smith sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Santos somewhat.

Smith scores with a sloppy right hand. Santos should have avoided that one.
Santos displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Smith throws out the jab.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Santos is defended easily by Smith.
Smith leaves Santos with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Smith throws a combination. Santos tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Smith lands a really nice looking cross but Santos seems unphased.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith throws a right hand that Santos ducks under and follows up with a left that Santos also avoids with ease.
Smith throws a lazy right hand but Santos sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Smith lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Antony Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Arwind Santos wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Santos has taken the fight to the clinch.
Smith wants to break the clinch but can't.
Smith wants to get back to striking at distance but Santos won't allow it.

Smith is looking to break free of the clinch but Santos has double underhooks.
Santos has Smith pressed against the cage, preventing Smith from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Santos is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Santos will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Smith up against the cage.
Smith wants to break the clinch but can't.
Santos drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Smith gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Antony Smith is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Smith might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
A decent looking cross lands there for Smith.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Smith stalks Santos and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Santos's face. Santos staggers backwards, shaken.
Smith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Santos.
Arwind Santos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Smith misses with a double jab.

Arwind Santos showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Smith has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
