PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zdrako Koratan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Azlan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Zdrako Koratan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Azlan!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Azlan. Beautiful body shot.
Azlan looks to land a left hand but Koratan moved out of range nicely.
Azlan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Koratan.
Azlan scores with a crisp jab that stopped Koratan in his tracks.
Azlan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Koratan was well out of range. Poor timing from Azlan.
Koratan pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Azlan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Azlan moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Azlan swings for the body but Koratan moves out of range.
Azlan swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Azlan scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Koratan doesn't seem bothered though.
Koratan uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Azlan.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Koratan.
Koratan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Azlan.
Azlan jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Azlan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Koratan moves away.
Azlan swings for the body but Koratan moves out of range.
The crowd cheers as Azlan lands an impressive looking overhand right. Koratan doesn't seem phased though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Azlan throws the left hand but Koratan avoids the punch easily.
Koratan tries to bum rush Azlan with a series of wild strikes but Azlan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Azlan keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Koratan.
Dan Azlan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Koratan moves out of range of the strikes.

Koratan pushes Azlan up against the cage in a clinch.
Koratan drops down looking for an ankle pick but Azlan pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zdrako Koratan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Azlan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Azlan throws a lazy uppercut
and Koratan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Azlan scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Koratan doesn't seem bothered though.

and Koratan counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Azlan's guard now.
Koratan works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Koratan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Koratan sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Azlan defending well though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Koratan tries to pass the half guard into mount. Azlan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Koratan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Azlan's head.
Koratan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Azlan is refusing to be controlled, as Koratan sits in half guard.
Koratan missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Azlan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Koratan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Koratan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Koratan looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Koratan not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Azlan avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Koratan.
Koratan throwing shots but Azlan is blocking nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Koratan tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Azlan.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Koratan missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zdrako Koratan dominated that round.
That's time! Koratan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Azlan connects with a right hand. Koratan shakes it off.
Koratan takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Azlan swings for the body but Koratan moves out of range.
Azlan looks to score with a jab to the body but Koratan is just out of range.
Koratan loads up on a big right hand but Azlan slips the punch.
Dan Azlan seems to be getting the better of the standup.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Koratan tries for a takedown but Azlan manages to get underhooks.
Koratan keeps control of Azlan as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Koratan turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Koratan working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Koratan misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Azlan can do anything to dispel that myth.
Koratan cracks Azlan with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Azlan is not content to let Koratan control the position.
Koratan is chipping away with strikes.


Azlan is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Koratan scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Azlan is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Koratan can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
