Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Pierce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Gates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Pierce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rob Gates!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pierce looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Gates!

Pierce looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Gates gets back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pierce stands up out of the half guard.

Pierce feints and as Gates raises his hands in defense, Pierce changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gates manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pierce manages to get himself to full guard.
Pierce is trying to keep Gates in close.
Gates slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Pierce wants to get back to his feet but Gates drags him back down.
You can see the frustration on Pierce's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Pierce prevents Gates from improving position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pierce regains half guard.
Gates trying to control from half guard but Pierce is working away.
Gates is looking to advance position but Pierce won't allow it.

Pierce looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Pierce is breathing heavily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A right-left combo lands from Gates.
Pierce keeps the fight on the outside.
Pierce keeps the fight on the outside.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pierce fails with a takedown attempt.
Gates tries to clinch up.
Pierce throws a head kick that misses.
Gates swinging wilding here.
Gates cracks Pierce with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
A nice combination there by Gates.
Pierce circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gates keeps the fight on the outside.
Gates throws a body kick that misses.
A chopping leg kick lands by Pierce.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A left and a right from Gates both land. Nice combination.
Pierce misses with a takedown attempt - Gates sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Pierce has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Pierce feints and as Gates raises his hands in defense, Pierce changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pierce pushes down on Gates's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Gates tries to get to full guard but Pierce has control of the leg.
Pierce prevents Gates from standing back up.
Pierce missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Gates moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Gates is trying to keep Pierce in close.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pierce trying to control the position from guard on top but Gates is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gates is on top in guard.
Pierce thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Gates drops back looking for a leg! Pierce is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pierce manages to kick Gates off! Gates jumps back into Pierce's guard.
Pierce working a defensive guard here.

Pierce is looking for a triangle but Gates pushes his legs off easily.
Gates wants to stand and escape but instead Pierce has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Pierce passes easily into side control. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anthony Pierce dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Pierce closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Pierce decides to stand back up.

Pierce looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Gates is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Pierce frees his head nicely. Oh but Gates has switched to an armbar! Pierce is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
