PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Jaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Riad Belhanda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the ring it seems that Tony Jaa has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Tony Jaa seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belhanda throws a hook to the side of Jaa's head but Jaa sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jaa walks into a left hand.
Jaa shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Belhanda defends it nicely.
Jaa shoots in but Belhanda avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jaa tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Belhanda misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Horrible takedown by Jaa or perhaps it was just good defense by Belhanda which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Jaa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jaa takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Belhanda shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Jaa wants to improve his position but Belhanda is controlling well.

Belhanda wants to free his trapped foot but Jaa is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Belhanda connects with a nice short shot to Jaa's temple.

Jaa sneaks back into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Belhanda is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Belhanda is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Belhanda works his foot free and advances to mount.
Belhanda fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Jaa is in a horrible position here. Belhanda smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Jaa is looking to get to half guard.
Belhanda takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Jaa tries to reverse the position but Belhanda maintains control.
Jaa gets back to half guard.
Belhanda is looking to advance position but Jaa won't allow it.
Belhanda winds up and cracks Jaa with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fighters are battling for position here. Jaa manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jaa is working an open guard so Belhanda takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Riad Belhanda dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Belhanda comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Jaa fails with an attempt to clinch.

A jab lands there for Belhanda.
Jaa is trying hard to land a takedown here. Belhanda sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Jaa gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

A big head kick from Belhanda and Jaa is sent sprawling to the canvas!

Jaa is rocked!
Belhanda sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jaa's guard.
Oh Jaa is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Belhanda is looking to take a break and control but Jaa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Belhanda passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Jaa!
Belhanda postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jaa looks a forlorn figure.

Jaa takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Belhanda lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Belhanda softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Jaa is out cold! Belhanda jumps to his feet and celebrates on the ropes with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!
