Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Clarck Murrie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Macdonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Clarck Murrie has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Clarck Murrie!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ian Macdonald!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jonathan Paton and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murrie avoids a kick to the body.
Murrie shoots for a double leg takedown but Macdonald sprawls well. He's pushed Murrie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Macdonald takes the fight into the clinch.

Macdonald gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Murrie is trying to control the position but Macdonald postures up.
Macdonald with a flurry of punches that miss.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Macdonald tries to free his leg and advance position but Murrie is retaining full guard.
Murrie wants to stand up but Macdonald is controlling him.

Murrie wants to control the position but Macdonald says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Macdonald content to control rather than advance.
Murrie is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Macdonald scores with a couple of nice shots.
Murrie is looking for a sweep. Macdonald is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Macdonald is looking to pass Murrie's guard but actually Murrie recovers to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Macdonald stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Murrie swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Murrie preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Macdonald works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Macdonald trying to mount his opponent but Murrie defends it.
Macdonald is controlling the pace.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Murrie is trying to maintain the position but Macdonald is very close to passing his half guard.

Macdonald passes the guard and advances to mount!
Murrie swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Macdonald's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Murrie tries to reverse the position but Macdonald maintains control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Macdonald tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A right-left combo lands from Murrie.


It looks like Ian Macdonald has been cut.
Murrie ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Macdonald closes the distance and clinches.

Macdonald pulls Murrie into guard.
Macdonald tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Macdonald is pulling down on Murrie's head to control his posture.
Murrie keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Macdonald's head.
Murrie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Macdonald swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Macdonald throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Murrie postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Macdonald has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Murrie looking to sit in guard and control but Macdonald gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Murrie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Macdonald is aware though and is defending well.
Macdonald not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Macdonald has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Murrie is proving hard to escape from.
Murrie is trying to control the position but Macdonald postures up.

Macdonald content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Ian Macdonald has got the better of the ground game so far.

Murrie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Macdonald defends it easily.
Macdonald slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Macdonald gets to his feet - Murrie follows without any prompting.
Macdonald defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Murrie.
Murrie throws a push kick but Macdonald slaps the foot to one side.
Murrie fails with a takedown attempt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Macdonald. Murrie does a little dance to reset his feet.
Macdonald swings for the body but Murrie moves out of range.
Murrie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Macdonald's waist but Macdonald gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Murrie off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clarck Murrie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Murrie slaps away a takedown attempt from Macdonald, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Macdonald takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Murrie blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Murrie fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Murrie is trying to pull guard but Macdonald turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Macdonald breaks from the clinch.

Macdonald fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Murrie to the ground. Macdonald is now in Murrie's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ian Macdonald showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
