PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Heckli Koch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Alonso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koch comes to the cage accompanied by Kamikaze. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Heckli Koch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jose Alonso!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Koch pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Koch wants to break free but Alonso has control.
A short uppercut from Koch.
Koch wants to break free but Alonso has control.
Koch jumps guard but Alonso stands there with Koch around his waist. Koch gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Alonso is stalling here.
Koch wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Koch blocks the elbow strike.

Koch breaks the clinch.
Koch tries to clinch up.
Koch is looking to clinch but Alonso is avoiding it.
Alonso blocks a head kick by Koch.

Alonso circles away from the clinch attempt.

Koch moves into range and clinches up with Alonso.
Alonso goes for a takedown attempt but Koch pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Koch throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Alonso.
Koch tries to clinch but Alonso is having none of it.
Heckli Koch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Koch tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alonso swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Koch plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Koch moves to clinch but Alonso breaks away

and Alonso moves into the clinch.

Alonso has picked Koch up - he's going for a ride! Alonso dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Koch manages to get to full guard.
Alonso is pushing down on Koch's leg trying to pass to half guard. Koch is fighting to maintain full guard but Alonso has managed to sneak the leg through.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alonso not doing much here.

Alonso decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Koch misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Alonso shoots in and gets a takedown into Koch's guard.
Alonso looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Alonso throwing strikes from guard but Koch blocks nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Koch is trying to control the position but Alonso postures up.
Alonso throws a big right hand that misses.
Alonso wants to stand but Koch has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Koch tries to clinch but Alonso moves out of range.
A low kick from Koch misses

and Alonso counters with a shoot takedown. Koch fights it but they end up in guard.
Koch is trying to control the position but Alonso postures up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Alonso's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alonso is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jose Alonso was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Koch ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Alonso moves away.
Koch is looking to clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Koch throws a right and a left that both miss.
Alonso shoots in looking for a takedown but Koch manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Alonso's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Alonso throws a body kick that misses.
Alonso keeps the fight on the outside.
Koch wants to clinch but Alonso slips to the side

and Alonso counters by moving into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jose Alonso dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Koch connects with a body shot.
The fighters circling - Alonso throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Koch tries to clinch there but Alonso circles away.
Koch is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Koch tries to clinch up.

Koch gets caught flat footed, as Alonso shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Alonso's corner is telling him to maintain position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Alonso wants to pass the guard but Koch is keeping the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jose Alonso.
Koch pushes Alonso away with a front kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Koch tries to clinch there but Alonso circles away.

Koch gets caught flat footed, as Alonso shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Koch bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alonso's guard.

Koch is posturing up here but Alonso has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Koch tries to roll out but it's too tight and Koch has to tap! Slick submission there by Alonso!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jose Alonso!
