Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kiko Kaluma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kaluma has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kiko Kaluma!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Smith!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith leaves Kaluma with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kaluma is breathing heavily.
Smith tries to clinch there but Kaluma circles away.
Smith tries to clinch up

and Kaluma counters by moving into the clinch.
Smith with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Smith tries to land a knee to the head but Kaluma blocks with his arms.
Kaluma has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Smith after a bit of a struggle.
Smith stalls.
Smith lands a good knee to the midsection. Kaluma won't want to take too many of those.

Kaluma really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Smith unloads a knee to the mid-section. Kaluma lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Smith is pushing Kaluma up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Smith connects with a knee to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Matt Smith.
Smith is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Smith tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Kaluma manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kaluma shoots in looking for a takedown but Smith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kaluma's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kiko Kaluma. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Smith lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Smith dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Smith tries to clinch there but Kaluma circles away.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kaluma swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Smith closes the distance and pushes Kaluma back into the cage.
Smith's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Smith lands a knee to the head.


Kaluma is rocked!
Kaluma wants a takedown but no success here.
Oh Kaluma is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smith with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Smith landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Smith lands a big knee to the head and Kaluma goes down! Smith pounces and finishes the fight with strikes! He jumps to his feet and celebrates with the crowd!
