Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Riggs Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Downe Syndrome (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Thomas might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to "I Know you Want Me" by Pitbull. Riggs Thomas has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Thomas changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Syndrome looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Thomas swings around for an armbar but Syndrome sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Thomas's guard.

Thomas working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Syndrome has passed into half guard!
Thomas wants to get back to full guard.

Syndrome gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Syndrome scores with a nice head shot.

Thomas looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Syndrome!
Syndrome is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Thomas goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Syndrome turns into him and now he's in Thomas's guard.
Thomas is breathing heavily.

Thomas looking for a guillotine here but Syndrome defends easily.
Syndrome tries to stand but Thomas is controlling from the bottom.

Syndrome stands up from Thomas's guard - Syndrome perhaps looking for a knockout.
Syndrome sizes up Thomas with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Syndrome misses with an attempted mid kick.
Syndrome lands a head kick!


It looks like Riggs Thomas has been cut.
Syndrome thows a left - swing and a miss!
Thomas shoots for a double leg takedown but Syndrome sprawls well. He's pushed Thomas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Syndrome looks to throw the jab but Thomas is out of range.
Syndrome throws a sloppy head kick and Thomas moves out of range easily.

Thomas darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Thomas looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Thomas is working for a kimura but Syndrome is defending it quite comfortably.
Thomas wants to advance to full mount but Syndrome doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Syndrome uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Syndrome throws a head kick that half lands.
Thomas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Syndrome tries to avoid it but Thomas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Syndrome to the ground. Syndrome escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Riggs Thomas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Syndrome lands a right hook to the body.
Thomas doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Syndrome missing with a left hand there. Thomas was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Thomas fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Thomas swats away the attempt to clinch by Syndrome.

Syndrome moves into range and clinches up with Thomas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Syndrome rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Thomas moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nice takedown defense from Syndrome. No joy for Thomas on that attempt.
Syndrome scores with a three punch combo!
Thomas could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Syndrome lunges at Thomas with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Thomas's hand.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Thomas.
Syndrome throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Thomas.

Downe Syndrome seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thomas takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Syndrome won't allow Thomas to pass to mount.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Thomas seems to be working for a kimura but Syndrome defends the submission attempt.

Thomas trying to pass the guard but Syndrome defending well.

Downe Syndrome showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Syndrome throws a body punch but Thomas moves out of range.

Thomas scores a takedown into full mount!
Riggs Thomas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Syndrome stops Thomas from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Thomas is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Syndrome has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Syndrome!

Thomas is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Syndrome won't allow Thomas to sweep him here.
Thomas has a closed guard, preventing Syndrome from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Thomas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Syndrome doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Syndrome manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Thomas throws his legs up looking for a submission but Syndrome uses it to pass to side control.

Syndrome decides to stand up, so the ref orders Thomas to his feet.
Syndrome misses with a straight left.
Syndrome throws a right and a left that Thomas avoids nicely.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Thomas wants to clinch
and Syndrome counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Thomas closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Thomas lands in his opponent's guard.
Thomas trying to move into half guard but instead Syndrome has managed to sweep!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thomas wants to sweep but no luck.
Thomas wants to hit a switch here but Syndrome passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Thomas there!

Syndrome is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Thomas is looking for a sweep. Syndrome is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Thomas trying to get back to full guard but Syndrome takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Syndrome prevents Thomas from getting the reversal.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Thomas regains half guard.

Thomas looking for submissions off his back.
Syndrome tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Riggs Thomas showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Syndrome has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
