Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Knarles Grunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takanori Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grunt's entrance music is BLUNT- The Iron Maiden. A fine choice. Gomi has chosen Scary as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Grunt lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Grunt looks to land a right hand but Gomi moved out of range.
Grunt throws a nice looking combination but Gomi bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Grunt misses with a series of wild punches.
Gomi connects with a body shot.
Gomi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gomi looks for the body kick but Grunt saw that one coming.
Gomi fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Grunt has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Grunt loads up on a big right hand but Gomi slips the punch.
Gomi bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Grunt is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gomi defends well.
Gomi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Grunt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gomi's waist but Gomi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Grunt off to one side.

and Gomi counters with a nice low kick that buckles Grunt's knee momentarily.

Grunt lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Grunt jumps guard but Gomi turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Knarles Grunt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gomi lands a right hand that snaps the head of Grunt backwards.

Gomi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gomi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Grunt.

Gomi has his foot on Grunt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Grunt works his way back into a safe position though.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Grunt accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Gomi is controlling Grunt's posture.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Grunt's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Gomi is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gomi might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Grunt haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Gomi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Takanori Gomi.

Grunt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Grunt is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Grunt takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Gomi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Knarles Grunt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gomi is trying to maintain the position but Grunt is very close to passing his half guard.
Grunt is trying to control the action in half guard but Gomi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Grunt is nestled in close to Gomi, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Gomi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Grunt's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Grunt's back!

Well Gomi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
