PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bryan Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Murillomartins Martins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Martins looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Martins rushes Williams and presses him up against the cage.

Martins has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Williams uses from the top position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Williams could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Williams throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Martins's waist but Martins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Williams off to one side.

Martins clinches up with Williams and pushes him back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Martins jumps guard and drags Williams to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Williams wants to stand and escape but instead Martins has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Martins stands and throws Williams's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Martins stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Williams tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Williams tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Martins just stands there and leans against the cage.

Martins's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Williams has had enough of the clinch but Martins keeps him there for the moment.

Martins has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Williams is trying to keep an underhook but Martins manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Martins wants to finish this one by submission but Williams is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Martins.
Martins lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Williams is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Murillomartins Martins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Williams clobbers Martins with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

and Martins counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Martins sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martins has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Williams has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Williams has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Martins.

Williams is in a bad position with Martins working for a choke. Williams manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

Murillomartins Martins comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Martins has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
