The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gold misses with an uppercut. Lawanmali saw that one coming.
A telegraphed right hand from Gold misses the target.
Gold throws a hook but Lawanmali blocks it.
Gold just misses with a punch to the body.
Gold lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lawanmali circles away quickly and effectively.
Gold attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Gold stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gold wants it to stay on the feet.
Lawanmali uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gold.

Gold lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Gold throws a strike but Lawanmali rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Lawanmali gets to his feet. Gold looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lawanmali bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Lawanmali shoots in but no luck this time.
Al Gold has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Somchai Lawanmali.

and Lawanmali counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Gold is breathing heavily.
Lawanmali shoots for a double leg takedown but Gold sprawls well. He's pushed Lawanmali's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Gold paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Gold swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Lawanmali.

Gold throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Lawanmali tumbling to the canvas!

It looks like Somchai Lawanmali has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gold arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Lawanmali's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
