Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tomazas Vilpis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Eugene Carl Alexander Burns!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Burns scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Burns seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Vilpis wants to control but Burns is keeping busy.

Burns is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Burns is looking for a kimura here.

Burns is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vilpis defends it well.
Vilpis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Burns on the ground.

Burns is working for a submission of some sort.

Vilpis is trying to get back to full guard.

Burns is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Burns is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Vilpis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Burns.

Burns seems to be working for a kimura but Vilpis defends the submission attempt.
Vilpis regains full guard. Nicely done.

Burns scoring with some ground and pound.
Vilpis looking for a sweep. Not yet Vilpis, not yet.

Burns drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Burns jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Burns slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Burns trying to control but Vilpis is working from the bottom.

Vilpis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Burns can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Burns passes Vilpis's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Burns is looking for a kimura but Vilpis is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Burns to get the leverage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Burns is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Burns is taking a breather. Vilpis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Burns passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Vilpis!

Burns is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Burns extends the arm and Vilpis is forced to tap!
