PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Etherton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ro Mo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Samuel Etherton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ro Mo!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice cross by Etherton.

Mo shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Etherton wants to control but Mo is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Mo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Etherton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mo is controlling the pace.
Let's hope that Mo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ro Mo has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Nice takedown defense from Etherton. No joy for Mo on that attempt.

Etherton closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mo throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Mo striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Mo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Etherton wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Etherton advances to mount.

Mo sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mo trying to keep a closed guard but Etherton is proving a slippery customer.

Mo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Etherton gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Etherton wants to stand but Mo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Mo looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Etherton is defending well. Mo quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Etherton has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Mo celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
