Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Sasaka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Wooten!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Sasaka.
Sasaka tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wooten swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sasaka throws a right and a left that Wooten avoids nicely.

Wooten throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sasaka was covering up waiting for the punch and Wooten finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Sasaka manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wooten manages to get himself to full guard.
Wooten manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Wooten in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.


It looks like Jim Sasaka has been cut.
Wooten has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wooten is working for a guillotine from mount but Sasaka frees his head quite easily.
Sasaka is wriggling around trying to escape.
Wooten is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Sasaka can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Wooten lands a big shot there that rocks Sasaka but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.


Jim Sasaka's cut is getting worse.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wooten scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Sasaka?


Sasaka is rocked!
Wooten lands a big elbow - Sasaka is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Sasaka is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Johnny Wooten!
An out of breath Johnny Wooten thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
